My grandparents are from Texas, both sides.  I grew up hanging around my grandfather's Texaco gas station, enjoying peanuts in my Coke, playing in the fields of mesquite trees.  I've watched Austin turn into a cozy town to a booming city with its outskirts spreading further and further out.

However, it is our neighborhoods that maintain that small, hometown feel, while providing art, music, recreation, and traditions of all kinds that mean so much to our families.
